Dermatology HOME – e-health solution for increased participation and better treatment outcomes

The research has paved the way for new and effective treatment of both psoriasis and atopic dermatitis, but both diseases are still undertreated and significant regional disparities exist. Furthermore, the lack of continuity and follow-up leads to some patients continuing to receive the same treatment, despite it not being sufficiently effective.

In an attempt to meet these challenges, the e-health company ADDI Medical is working together with the pharmaceutical company AbbVie and the healthcare sector to develop a mobile service to facilitate the follow-up of treatment effects, lifestyle changes, risk factors and comorbidities. The service, which goes by the name Dermatologi Home, aims to give the patient better control over their illness and life situation through the possibility of self-monitoring via an app and an individually tailored activity plan with direct feedback to and from healthcare services.

  • With Dermatology HOME, the patient assesses their symptoms and quality of life themselves. The app also provides the opportunity to answer questions about other symptoms and lifestyle habits, and can also be used to screen for comorbidity.

  • Personal data such as BMI, medication reminders, test results, educational modules, and chat and video consultations can also be linked to the app.

  • The follow-up of reported data is based on the National Board of Health and Welfare's national guidelines and the latest treatment recommendations from the Swedish Society of Dermatology and Venereology (SSDV).

  • Dermatologi Home can be used by all patients with psoriasis or atopic dermatitis, regardless of treatment.

Encourage patient engagement through the possibility for the patient to assess their symptoms and quality of life from home and thereby gain better control over their illness and life situation. Increase quality of life through fewer hospital visits, less impact on work, studies and social life. Dermatology Home offers healthcare professionals a planning tool that enables proactive care by automatically comparing the patient's results against set treatment goals. 

With the support of the planning tool, rapid action is enabled in the event of non-functioning treatment and the automatic early detection of comorbidities. Through the planning tool, resources are freed up as the patient can easily be involved in the care process, incoming values are processed and patients are automatically prioritised in the planning tool. The service can both help to increase efficiency and quality while the recurring manual work of healthcare personnel can be minimised.
